Pioneering services for children with learning, developmental, motor and behavioural challenges

Physiotherapy Therapy

Having thoroughly assessed each child and discussed the findings with their parents, a suitable therapy programme will be devised and implemented. Therapy will be tailored to each child’s individual needs. Children’s physiotherapy generally employs exercises, play activities and games to improve motor ability, strength, posture and coordination. In addition specialist equipment may be used. Advice is given to the family and school to include specific motor activity within the child’s day to supplement physiotherapy sessions.

Intervention generally includes individual or group sessions of direct physiotherapy in the centre (usually of 50 minutes duration). The therapist may also deliver direct physiotherapy sessions in school. They will also a devise a programme of activities and exercises to be carried out at home and school and will ensure adequate guidance is given. They will liaise closely with other therapists, teaching staff and medical personnel who may be involved with the child.
